In truth a bit too close, I was about 4 metres from the bird and at maximum aperture the depth of field was wafer thin. The cheek, eye and beak are in focus but not much else.
Still, I quite like the inquisitive look, hope you do too.
This coalie does look as if he has coal dust smudged into his flanks.
I'm pretty "filthy" myself at the moment. Sweaty at least after my spin class. Now to relax with some BF browsing, then a bit more reading on a student paper.

I very rarely see these two together at the window (in fact I can't remember when I last saw the Coal Tit now!).
It was the only image I got, the next picture the coalie had gone.

I managed to get a picture of one on his own this time and loved the feeding pose - he has a seed under his feet.
He's quite well camouflaged with the reed bed in the background I think.

An autumn visit to this reserve near Forfar and a most enjoyable couple of hours was spent there.
He may have. I don't. Too much to eat at that birthday party. Cakes, tea, moose stew, salad, focaccia, wine ... I need to get up early tomorrow so I'll have time to walk it off on by walking the 4km to work.
