I know I only showed you one of these a few days ago, but I was so pleased to see him back and thought this was such a cute pose.

All the birds disappeared again at the beginning of the month, but started to come back again a few days ago. Today we have...
.... well he's not really, just I thought he was from my unedited thumbnail LOL.
My Coal Tit disappeared again and didn't come back to the middle of September (devils to try and photograph though!).
I think he became a bit more confident, so stayed on the feeder a little longer this time...
Not the best of pictures, it was rather rushed and he didn't hang around to give me more opportunities.
This was the end of August and he'd been missing for weeks, so I was really pleased to see him return.
Isn't it great when friends come back to see us!

Coal Tits come and go... in and out all day every day for a few weeks, then they disappear for weeks.
Generally I just know there is a single one, but a few weeks ago I definitely saw two of them, so was quite pleased at that.

Some strange things have been happening this summer. Just before I got this picture I saw a young Great Tit exploring the shed in the garden (unfortunately I couldn't get a picture of it). I've not seen an adult for months!
Then an hour later this Coal Tit arrives! Went away and came back again...

I had a beautiful reminder this morning, of what its like to wake up in the country. I was awakened before first light, by the sounds of Blackbirds calling to each other. Then followed closely with the calls of various Tits, Chaffinch etc. Joined by the chattering...
... or of a red deer. I think my father-in-law used to find these antlers up in the hills above the cabin in the season when the deer shed their antlers. Or maybe he used to hunt up there together with his uncles and cousins decades ago. Anyway, they've been nailed up on the shed for as long as...
