Cocoi Heron (Ardea cocoi) with baby Yacare Caiman (Caiman yacare). The sun had just set and the Heron was too far for my flash but you can still make it out. Pantanal, south of Pocon, Mato Grosso, Brazil. Pantanal with interspersed cerrado vegetation at ca. 128 m (420 ft) elevation.

Bird was at shore of Samiria River at edge of varsea (seasonally flooded) forest near Puesto Vigilante #2 in Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve , upper Amazon drainage, northeastern Peru.

Not really, it just appears that way.

Actually the Heron is quite safe among the caimans.
