    Waking up from a nap in the shade. Decaocto means eighteen in Greek. The species is supposed to have 18een tail feathers (?). hence the name.

    .....now where have I heard that before? This young Collared Dove crashed into the front of the hide and sat there, stunned on the ground, for absolutely ages.

    As a newbie to Birds, during the summer I have seen pairs of collared doves in the garden. This picture the markings are so prevalent so I am assuming it's a young bird - can the experts help? I hope to get a real DSLR sometime but this was taken with the Canon Powershot Pro 1 and Teleconverter.
