    Common Redpoll (male)

I like the fact that we've had a lot of snow this winter. It's been a bit too cold at times but rather that than a grey and rainy winter. It's great for photography too. Large flocks of Repolls tend to stick to the treetops, alders mostly, but sometimes small groups come to the feeders.

We had huge flocks of Redpolls and Siskins but then they all disappeared. Now both species have begun to visit the garden in small numbers.

We were promised sunshine today but it turned out to be just another dull day. On the positive side these were a lot of Common Redpolls in the birch tree in the neighbours' garden just next to the road. I managed to take a few pictures before they flew off. There were hundreds, maybe thousands...

We've begun feeding the birds in the garden with what was left when we stopped feeding the birds at our old address. In the beginning we mostly had four species of...

A bif flock of Eurasian siskins have been at the feeder all day because of a snowstorm. There was a suddenly flash of red in the window. Quickly grabbing the camera, I managed to photograph this beautiful redpoll in the garden.

Haven't seen any Redpolls at all this winter. This is an old one that's been reprocessed.

    Redpoll surrounded by snow

We had a tremendous amount of snow last weekend. Most of it's gone now and today it was raining. I took a great many pictures of birds in the trees near the feeders. There was an ridiculous amount of snow heaped on the branches. I doubt if the birds were very happy about it but at least they had...

Lots of these around and at times they can be very quarrelsome.
