Saw my first one of these this morning, at my local Reservoirs. It was a long way off, so I can't really crop it any closer than I already have. Anyway, there's a bit of a story goes with me getting pictures of this bird:
I saw the bird about 300 yards away, it was walking close to the water's...
The area around my home town is mainly mountain,moorland and river valley.As a consequence I dont get much chance to shoot waders.We do have a few pairs of these turn up each year to breed on the moors though.

Spotted this little sandpiper pottering about the rocky edge of the loch. The water was beautifully clear and reflected the blue sky, a great end to the last day of the holiday.
This Common Sandpiper seemed to prefer the trees rather than rock or sand to do its calling from across the loch...probably wanted a bit of shade from that burning sun at the time :) - Mike
