common swift apus apus

We had a great trip to Lake Tkern at the weekend. As I hoped, all the juvenile Bearded Tits had adult plumage and I got some great views and took lots of pictures. Off to Scotland fr a few days on Sunday to celebrate my father's 97th birthday. Who knows I might see some birds too, weather...

I've seen a lot better like Tony's brilliant recent post but for me this was a big step forward.

The weather was cloudy and windy. From last week temperature droped more than 10 C so I had no great expectaions from my birding day. I was surprised to find a flok of swifts flying low over the water. I spent a couple of hours photographing them and this is the only decent photo.

About a dozen or more of these whizzing around the Island Mere today, great to see them back!

It may not be much but it's a start and a first for the gallery. :-)

Ans the last one for today,from this very morning.... Not an easy job! Have a nice (long?) weekend :)

Not a perfect picture, but this is one of my favourites because the shape of the tail. Most of the time you'll see it forked, not spread like this.
