    SF1 - headless

I'm busy sewing masks. Will catch up on browsing later this evening. Meanwhile, in keeping with the face-hiding theme, here are three SF images from yesterday's walk along the river. Classic SF shots, i.e. shots where something goes wrong, like the bird suddenly taking off, a branch in the way...

    More bog bean blenders

On the very far strip of bog bean I spotted some Teal. Think you can just make them out, they do rather blend in, don't they.

This male teal came close to one of the open hides at Alcazar de San Juan's Veguilla lagoon. Light wasn't quite good, slightly backligthing him

    Green Winged-Teal

Common Teal (Anas crecca subsp. carolinensis). Known as the Green-winged Teal (Anas carolinensis) by most in the USA. IUCN and BirdLife International does not recognize this taxon at the specific level. However behavioral, morphological and molecular data does not support their position...
  16. Telltale touch of teal

    Telltale touch of teal

Afraid I couldn't get closer to this flock of teal. Too much mud and slippery rocks between. But the occasional glimpse of green was enough to nail the ID. And I'm glad the distance allowed them to keep enjoying their breakfast unstressed.
