    Like dipping for apples

This Wood Pigeon decided he'd stand on the feeder tray in order to reach the hanging seed feeder... plenty in the tray of course LOL. However, as he touched the feeder it swung away from him, much to his consternation!!

Trying to get this rather large berry down its throat, and looking like it's having second thoughts. It did swallow the berry, and a few more, but seemed to be making rather heavy weather of them, pulling all sorts of faces. Taken in evening light through window glass. Stay safe and well, and...

Not sure if this is going to upload correctly. I resized to be sure I was within the size limit, but the upload still isn't showing any thumbnail. Still ... I'll give it a go. In case this does upload: One Xmas tradition here in Norway is that at harvest time farmers put aside sheaves of oats...

The same bird as posted on Monday. In that shot, the bird seemed to be sizing me up. In this one, it seems to have decided I was no threat and it could relax a bit. Thank you for your comments, good birding! John

  14. Peekaboo!

    Peekaboo!

Not all that bad a shot, aside from not showing the entire bird. As some of my shots from that day show, it was raining when I started my route, and this somewhat wet pigeon was waiting out the rain under some nearly umbrella-sized leaves. What I like about it is that peekaboo effect.

SF - Every girl should wear a tiara

at some point in their lives. I haven't got to that point yet, but maybe some day. Then again, I'm too old to be considered a "girl" now, so maybe I've missed my chance. But doesn't this "girl" (or guy, for that matter) look sweet?

Found this guy mopping up birdseed in the cemetery at a tremendous rate; he stopped briefly to consider me and then carried on.

    Surveying

Birds have found a new perch in my garden on top of the feeder pole, quite a few have taken advantage of it now, with this Wood Pigeon being the latest. Shows up well against the beech leaves, doesn't he. TTTW

    Common Wood Pigeon (juvenile)

Another heavy crop, the bird being rather distant. It may look as if the bird is about to fly in front of the brickwork (the side of a block of flats) but in fact it's just about to disappear from view at some distance behind it. Possibly "size illusion" has something to do with this. Thank you...
