This Coot examines her Washed Out Nest after the rain and high water at Carsington. Arr poor thing she has got to start again.
Off to Drakelow this morning to look at their breeding birds, will catch up later.
was sorting my images for some saturday fun as my grand-daughter is staying at her house tonight with a friend.when we had a power cut, electricity just back on.so think most of you have seen this one before but their feet just amaze me out of water.they look so chicken like and see them alot on...
... I see these two together on the same stretch of water as I feel that Moorhens prefer water with lily pads etc and Coots more open water. I'm probably wrong though LOL.
Moorhens are much harder to find at Kinnordy than Coots, which are there in some numbers. There are some pools with lilies...
taken yesterday.saw this little fortunate one being attended to by both parents so i hope its survival rate is better than its offsprings.usually they bring their young out close to feed here but this one never left the reed beds.i wonder why!!!
this one got all the grub.adult male mute to busy chasing his off spring from last year, still four remain as the female sits on nest for this years young.
Sorry 'bout the pun. I couldn't resist. Taken from the bridge right where the lake empties into the Rhone. And isn't the Rhone water lovely with that sharp glacier-melt blue-green |=)|
