There's always a lot of Coots at Lintrathen but, my goodness, I can't remember seeing so many together in the one place. They've a friend with them too... can you see him?

This flock of coots (fulica atra) is searching for open water on the frozen surface of the lake. Once all the water is freezing, they will head south in search of warmer climate.

Well Peeps, We arrived at Lakenheath yesterday, after 4 hours on the road, and being held up in traffic for over an hour. We will be staying here with my old Mum until friday morning, then heading back to Hastings on the trains. Its a lovely sunny morning here in Suffolk...
