I took this one a year ago in our town. I believe it's a male, but am ready to be corrected. These birds, along with House Martins & Swifts, fly around the square in front of the house all day long. Wiggie Woo (our dog) and I sit on the front step in the mornings watching them flit by and...
As promised, the picture following yesterday's fun shot.
So well done those who got the correct ID and thanks to everyone else for the wonderful fun answers!
Don't these guys just love sinking on you at the last minute LOL.
Good luck Andy!!!!
This is four of the five Coots that had a bit of 'handbags at dawn' the other day. The big fella came out on top and the others scarpered in double quick time!
Well Peeps,
We had a nice day out at Seaford yesterday, but it was a tad windy up on the point. A quite unpleasant journey on the train home. So we went out for a couple of jars, and a nice juicy steak...Lovely. Still not sorted through yesterdays efforts, but hopefully get round to that after...
These little fellas look so docile 99% of the time but, when they square up to each other, they're anything but! There were 5 males involved in this fracas, it was way to close to us for me to get them all in shot, but this is one of my favourites.
Well Peeps,
Its an early post and run from me this morning...I'm off out on a Peregrine Falcon survey in West Sussex, with the "Sussex Peregrine Study" group today. I hope the weather is kind to us, and to y'all...So y'all have a great weekend, see ya later.
Our birding day last Tuesday yielded some great shots, and lots of firsts for me. However, the image that made me smile, and still does every time I look at it, is this one.
Albino coots are extremely rare (I never see it before!). It was cute to see interaction of parents with this albino chicken, old a few days (maximum). The brood consisted of two albino chicks and 4 "normal" chicks. Unfortunately after 2 days albino chicks disappeared.
Still at Kinnordy last week.
This Coot swam across in front of the Gullery hide carrying building materials for a nest. Presumably it's on the bog bean island.

One of our favourite walks was along the Chichester Canal; this is actually the very end of it, where it emerges into the Chichester Marina.
At that time the canal wasn't navigable all the way, but they were working on it. Because there was no current in this area, water lilies had grown...
For some strange reason, i wanted to get a coot flying rather than just running across the water,
Thanks again everyone for all your comments this week, and have a great weekend.
Andy
