Funny, we were out fishing a couple of years ago, and one of these came flying in low.. just barely making it.. and landed on the bow rail of our boat! It sat there for about a half an hour and finally recovered enough to soldier on.. So I guess I like 'em now!

There is a "lawn" in the Pampulha Botanical Garden of Belo Horizonte were vultures, carcaras, cormorants and other birds like to stop and get a little sunshine. I got this one as a flock of about 12 took flight.

    Nae bonny!

These birds were a common site in the skies over Central Florida. This individual was photographed at eye level from a wooden tower at Gatorland. Black Vultures don't take to the wing until the heat of the day has created thermals -unfortunately this is when the sun is high in the sky & light...

    Immature black vulture

I really hesitate to post this unworthy-of-the-birdforum shot but as far as I can tell, there are no pictures of an immature turkey vulture here so here's one until someone posts a better shot. Edited a day later to give it its proper name, immature black vulture.
  9. Black Vulture in flight

    Black Vulture in flight

Another friend from the vulture clan shown earlier. Distinguished from Turkey Vultures in flight mainly by the wing pattern of light vs dark and flatter wings.
