This crow also had some choice words for me, but I don't speak crow so didn't blush or shudder in fear. Then again, perhaps he was just demanding that I distribute some bird seeds, and that I did do when I got to campus, but not right there where I saw this crow.
It was pretty cold that day on my monthly "Winter waterbird count" walk. We do count all the birds we see, although our annual report focuses on the waterfowl. I set out early that day so as to start my assigned stretch as soon as it was (barely) light enough. Days are so short at mid-winter...
This photograph doesn't do them justice but it was a lot of fun watching these 2 birds in action. First the Hooded Crow would "attack" the Osprey then the Osprey would become irritated and chase the crow. When the Osprey grew tired of the chase the crow would fly after the Osprey again...
