Of all places, this crake decided to spend most part of its winter at a basement carpark of a condominium. Like most water birds, they will freeze when felt threatened thinking that predator will not see them. Not in this case. We saw it alright and because it kept so still, I shot it handheld...
Not an easy bird to twitch even in its breeding ground but this globally near-threatened Band-bellied Crake chose to spend its winter at Singapore's very own UNESCO World Heritage site since January this year.
This is the second confirmed record in Singapore. Not an easy to see crake species in both its breeding and wintering grounds. Twitchable if you are nearby Singapore.
