Another SF.... we have had a lot of rain this last week and the birds are not too happy, this is summer and supposed to be hot!........... Hope you all get a smile!
This is the best way to wash under the arms :)
The rain had turned to sleet on this very cold and wet day and the Pigeon took advantage of it. It got down to 3degs unusual for here, needless to say I was in the kitchen taking this through the window as I do with most of my images :)
Hope you enjoy.
I had to go back through my notes to check, this was only the second Crested Pigeon I'd recorded in South Australia! And the first picture I'd managed to get.
They were everywhere in Queensland!
This one had come down to the little pond by the cafe for a drink and a bath.
Also up on that wire was a Crested Pigeon, this time the angle was right and I captured the pretty iridescence on his wing, which I'd not really seen before.
There were 4 Crested Pigeons down at the waterside, but I've only shown you one of them this time.
Hans made me promise not to take too many pictures of the same old species today... well, I did try;) But it's hard with the cute ones, isn't it.
How pretty the iridescent patches are on this pigeon. I've not really noticed it so much before. It must have been the early morning sun.
They are rather cute, aren't they.
The next day Ken had a nice surprise for me just a few hundred yards from his house. Down on a different part of the beach at Wellington Point.
A bit of a scramble down onto the beach but not so muddy here LOL.
Firstly we saw a couple of Crested Pigeons sitting cosily together.
This charmer reminded me of Alfalfa from "Little Rascals" (aka "Our Gang")). I got quite a few shots of him. Then, just as he got into a patch of sunlight, where I hoped I would capture even more of the colorful iridescences on his wings, an Australian Magpie swooped down and...
Looking out the kitchen window I spotted this Crested Pigeon hogging the bird feeder and along came the Tree Sparrow and jumped on its back and stayed there until the Pigeon vacated, such a look of surprise on the Pigeons face!
SF for everyone! Hope you get a smile!
