Sorry not on the forum much, but out enjoying the Norfolk sun and the birds in Gods Country. A day out tomorrow with a pro-birder, its a Christmas gift from Hazel's kids to us. I bet I've seen more stuff than he will show us tomorrow, LOL. Had a great afternoon/evening yesterday with a Norfolk...

    Curlew - evening light

Absolutely no chance of photography today, the weather here in Cheshire is dreadful. Hope you are luckier where you are. So here's another from our trip to Norfolk last year.

    Curlew at 800mm f11 and AF'd

Messing around with live view and an old teleplus 2x tc attached to my 400/5.6 this morning. Live view had no problem auto focussing although it is slower than normal AF of course. BTW the converter will not AF on any of my lenses, even the f2.8 ones so I was surprised that it worked OK in live...

Superb blue skies the weekend - managed to snap a for Curlews in flight on my local patch.

    Curlew

A grey day yesterday so we had a stroll to the local harbour here in Thornham. Quite a few waders foraging on the incoming tide, but pretty useless light for pics.

    Curlew at high tide

High tide pushes the Curlews in quite close at times and I was able to take this shot from the comfort of the Tarka Trail which is a made up tarmac walking/Cycling path.

    Full frame Curlew in flight

This Curlew suddenly went up less than 10 metres away from me, I managed some grabbed shots but this was the only one where the all the bird was in the frame. Did not manage to nail the focus on the eye due to only having a split second to aim and fire but it shows the wing and tail patterns...

    Curlew up-close

Took this one when out for my bike ride yesterday, still got a touch of summer plumage I reckon. It had just been probing for ragworm.
