Diamond Dove

.... wish I owned that many diamonds LOL. They're so pretty these doves and I did rather fall for them.

The pretty little Diamond Dove was there again too. They really are adorable. Actually Hans was really mean... he insisted I contact Ken to let him know I'd seen one, as he knew it was on Ken's wanted list!;)

We headed for what's called the Back Dam and after getting ourselves settled under bushes near the waterside waited to see what would come. The first bird down for a drink was a very pretty little Diamond Dove and a new Lifer for me.

One of a pair nesting in a bloodwood on Newhaven Sanctuary, 400km north west of Alice Springs. No problems finding food - after a boon year the place is overrun with diamond doves and zebra finches, both good tucker for these fellows.

This diamond dove was the only one amongst 20 or so peaceful doves. The Peaceful dove is common in the territory but not so the diamond dove.
