The Dipper is a newbie for me and a bird I've wanted to get pics of for a while now and so I want to say many, many, thanks to Ken for taking me up to Dipper Falls yesterday where I managed to bag one or two shots.
This one is my fave as I like the way the bird is framed by some overhanging...
They're still playing pretty hard to get. You'd think they'd be used to people walking the path by now, but the least movement and they're off to the far bank.
I saw two screaming up river at one point, but am not sure if this one was involved in that little skirmish.
It was really very warm...
They really were playing hard to find today. I had to walk right to the far end of what I usually do before I saw one. Then suddenly two came zipping through - one chasing the other.
I ended up with this one at some distance, under the trees, hence it's a bit dark.
When I was walking the river on Wednesday, I saw a dipper on the rock and took a couple of photos when it took off.
I clicked, but not before it was obscured by the branch, half a second sooner and it would've been out in the open.
Oh well... another time perhaps

It was a sunny...
My walk along the river this afternoon and I saw three Dippers, including this pair. The first time I've got two of them together in a shot.
When I first saw the picture, I thought the one on the rock had collected a twig for the nest, but now it's properly downloaded, I can see that it's a...
... but I took it on Wednesday;) I just wanted to get the Vane Farm pictures finished.
I walked down the river, with no sign of any bird at all apart from 1 Blue Tit in the top of a tree. Then I walked back again and took a picture of the rocks where I usually see the Dippers, so I could at...
There are alot of Dippers on the rivers around where I live but mostly the rivers are dark and ot that easy to get down to so i have never tried to photograph them. Recently, as I walk to work I have discovered another pair on a lovely river that is much brighter and easily accessible. Last week...
Could of course have cropped away the blurred foreground but i liked the extra colours so i let it be. Made it a bit softer with Noise Ninja afterwards. Handheld 1/15 sec.
This may well be the last Wednesday Dipper this year, it's really getting quite dark along the river now, mind a bit of sun would help!
I upped the ISO to 400, f7.1, 1.20 sec
