A beautiful female downy woodpecker posing nicely for me. Its rare I come across a woodpecker with such slick well groomed feathers. Usually they are sticking up all over the place.
This fellow has been coming to visit me for about a week now. I would say I have the correct suet for them now, since everyone seems to be happy with the choice. Today with the snow storm, birds that usually don't show interest in the suet have been giving it a try.

I like the look of intense concentration on his face. He landed on a tree maybe 10 feet in front of me and was perfectly happy to stay there until a female downy woodpecker chased him off.
