Hi folks, I have been amoung the missing for the last couple of days as I was hold up at home not feeling well. Caught some kind of a bug, but seem to be on the mend. Haven't got out much with that and of course new snow again. Luckly still have back yard trees and feeders to look at and try to...

These birds look so identical which makes them difficult for new birders. Size is definitely an important marker. The Hairy is the larger one... the Downy the smaller.

Downy Woodpecker male looking for food after another snow fall today. We got an additional 5-8 inches this AM. Boy we are making up for last year with lots of snow this year. Supposed to get more later this week.

Now that the Blue Jays have thinned out quit a bit, these guys are back in force.
