Notoriously difficult to capture in flight especially when they are flying straight at you!!Makes fucussing handheld with a 300mm. lens very tricky. Therefore I was pleasantly pleased with this result on a dull day with no background colour.
Went for a walk today and came across this dragonfly in some woods - had to swap my lens not to get near him but managed a couple of shots aftwards. I don't know these very well but I am informed it is a Common Hawker - I initially thought it was a southern hawker.
6th Aug - I have now changed...
Was out this morning checking my feeders and saw this dragonfly.. it's the first one I've seen this year.. being my youngest loves them I shot this picture to print for her room
This is a picture of an unknown dragonfly I took in my backyard. I know these insects are common but those eyes are just stunning...when you look at one it really feels like it is staring you down...kind of creepy actually!
Dragonfly - one of the blues, but I do not know which one - flying over one of the ponds at the Teifi Marshes, Cilgerran, North Pembrokeshire.
