This came out so clear, you can see the peach fuzz around it's head and torso.

There was quite a hatch of dragonflies this week on a local pond. They gave me and the camera quite a workout!!!

I had to laugh when I got this image. I may be mad but it looks to me like there is some cross-eyed, cartoon character flying this Southern Hawker !! What do you think?

I was in China in July and saw many very cool dragonflies. I didn't have my camera, but took this picture with my girlfriend's point and shoot.

I thought birds in flight were hard to capture, but insects in flight was even more challenging. Too fast for automatic metering, I reverted to manual focus and multiple shot, trying to catch this one flying into focus. It took around 400 attempts to capture this! Species not yet identified

There weren't many birds around, but this beautiful dragonfly caught my attention.

Dragonfly -Broad bodied chaser

In the UK, found on only a few rivers. Luckily for me, my local river is one of them.

Male Broad-bodied Libellula dragonfly. A gold-coloured female was nearby and they mated, then she laid eggs.

Another unknown (to me) dragonfly.

The intricate patterns and details of these creatures never fail to amaze me.

This rather large dragonfly was perched on a hook in my back garden, catching other flying small bugs for lunch. Hope he fills up on mosquitoes!
