I have been photographing two dunlin at Elton recently. They have been a joy. I have had them all but feeding out of my hand. The one in this image roosted about a foot away from my lens. The light was grim and the snow sure helped to lift up the beauty of this bird in its winter plumage.
I was looking for Water Pipits but couldn't get near. Saw this guy comming, so set up. Came so close that I couldn't focus, then flew around me. Didn't have time to change to the D3 so shutter speed a bit slow and a little noisy. Still quite good though as the light was rubbish.
