I have sat and waited hours in the marsh reeds for shots like this, but there was no need for waiting this time. I just happened to walk up on this Egret trying to finish its meal. I shot it as it turned towards me as if to say, "Frog? What frog???"

Great Egret on a gray day.

I was surprised to see how many different birds were hanging together yesterday. We have skimmers, laughing gulls, snowy egret and then some.

Congress of Egrets. Little Egrets, Cattle Egrets, Eastern Great Egrets with Pond Heron, Sandpiper and Stilt in there as well

A family of Cattle Egrets at Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary near Mumbai in Maharashtra, India. Tansa is a beautiful Sanctuary formed around the catchment area of Lake Tansa. Unfortunately its feared much of the wildlife has been lost to poaching, encroachment, habitat loss etc.

Can get very crowded

In my opinion, the best scene was this flock of egrets assembled on the hyacinth weed seemingly enjoying the cool evening breeze over the lake.

And where there is water, can the egrets be far behind?

This is another shot from the lake on the outskirts of our city, which I visited on 22nd. It was heartening to see a variety of water birds including herons, egrets, cormorants, coots and ducks in the reasonably well maintained lake. The cormorants are at the far end of the lake. Of course the...

Driving on the outskirts of the city, found scores of egrets returning to their nesting place. The sun had just set and had to shoot from the car in low light with the birds flying away from the camera.
