    My first observation of this species in Barbados. I might incidentally have disactivated the image stabilization on the lens which is a pain in a certain place.

    Tricolored Heron (Egretta tricolor subsp. ruficollis) Sexes similar. They are beautiful year round but in breeding plumage they are spectacular. Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge, Chambers County, Texas, USA. Shoveler Pond, gulf prairies and marshes at ca. 2 m (6.6 ft) elevation.
