Although not native the Egyptian geese are doing well in london. Within a hundred metres of each other there was a pair of adult geese with four goslings and another pair with six!
I visited Rutland Water and was lucky enough to see this pair of Egyptian Geese fly right across my field of vision from the hide. The photo, was hand held on full zoom and it is cropped about 70% hence the not so great exposure. Beautiful and graceful birds though.
After a brief interlude at home, it was back to the UK for a week of meetings and data collection. Luckily, the hotel my colleague had booked for us meant I "had" to walk through various parks on my way to and from meetings. Poor me ;)

Here number 12 in this series, 14 different species, the Egyptian Geese Family, I was very pleased to see three youngsters of these guys.

This is the part of the triumphant dance after seeing off the other two Egyptian Geese. The female (at the back) looks quite proud of her "man" ;)
Building crap in the BG, but it's really difficult to avoid it over there atm.
Another pair of Egyptian Geese approaching out of shot, so this was the reaction of this pair. Spoilt a bit by the damn builders lorries etc in the BG.
Oh, and the male is sticking two feathers up ;)
The Egyptian geese are a long way from Egypt and a long way from me. There were others much closer, but they were captives, so they don't count. Loads of interesting birds at the wetland centre, captive, but in breeding programs. And since they can fly short distances, in spite of their wings...
