    Confused

Not only are Beach Thick-knees called stone-curlews sometimes, they also moved to another Genus meaning they are known by another scientific name by some LOL But these were our main target for them, as they're not seen everywhere.

    Beach Stone-Curlew

Not a brilliant photo - the bird was backlit and a long way away, but it was the only shot I could get; the bird is endangered, so I thought it was worth including. I'm running out of new species to post from the trip, so just one today.

    Beach stone-curlew (thick-knee)

I like the fact that this bird breeds and feeds on the beaches around the city. A remarkable feat given it lays its eggs in a scrape in the sand.

    Bush Stone-curlew (thick-knee)

I was having a slow day today so I decided to get off the beaten track and walk through an area of regrowth. As I approached a ridge this thick-knee charged me making threatening noises and making himself as large as possible. Normally these birds freeze and rely on not being seen. I thought...
