Giving me a nice blue background for the Collared Dove up in the tree.
Still rather chilly, as you can tell from his fluffed up appearance, but nothing like what was to come in a few weeks.
Back home and a Collared Dove landed on my neighbour's roof.
These are regular but occasional visitors, usually a pair visiting for a few weeks about 3 times a year. This, of course was the first visit for 2019, so possibly checking all was safe to bring his partner in.
The trouble with this picture was threefold.. shooting through the double-glazing, it was raining and the rain was hitting the window (that's unusual).
But I find these little doves so cute, I had to try and get a picture of him.

I've been visited by Collared Doves this winter. There's often a pair making occasional visits two or three times a year but I've had up to 5 this time and almost daily.
Got this one on the roof of my downstairs neighbour's shed.

It looks to me like he's wanting to have a dance.... wonder what the music is LOL.
Two seconds before I got this image there were the three of them there again,, But the gooseberry was chased away.
I don't have these here all the year, usually a pair will come for a few weeks in the spring and then again in the autumn/winter (still waiting).
This guy seems to be wondering why he's on his own though... perhaps he doesn't realise that all the birds have now been, eaten all the food, and...
before turning in the car and checking in at the airport. When I'd filled up the car's tank, I realized I had time for a quick walk at a nearby stretch of the Bay Trail. Right in front of me where I parked by the trail was this Collared Dove.
I posted shots of Collared Doves mating last year. This one was taken a few days earlier: though the birds didn't mate there and then, they're looking more than slightly amorous. Later note: hmm! They look rather overexposed, especially on my new iPad, but its a bit late to do anything about it...
Through the window and missed the tip of the wing but this dove is interesting with some partial leucistic coloring. Sure hope it's not the dove one of our hawks caught this morning in our yard.
