I was quite pleased with this, as the early morning light yesterday was quite poor. I only managed 1/25th second shutter, and hand-held as usual, so I was surprised that there was any detail. I think I got lucky too, and caught the Jay dead still.
Through the window as usual.
Oh, and the good...
ATM, there's at least 5 Jays in the garden each day. The most that I've seen together is 4, but there's definitely more. It's great watching them bouncing off the walls when they're squabbling; in fact one even bounced off the glass of the patio door (it meant to do it, it wasn't harmed).
I've...
Another slow (1/30th second) shutter - through the window shot; but I like the pose. If the crop looks odd, it's because I've cropped out the blue washing line.
I've got about 6 of these in the garden this morning, so I'm posting this one from about an hour ago. There's also Magpies and Crows, so I'm back to watching the action after posting this. I'll be back when it clouds over, which will probably be sooner than the forecast predicts.
Through the...
Jay from the other day that almost looks like it's intentionally posing for me. Oh, and the neighbours refuse to take down that blue washing line.|=)|
Through the window as usual.
One from yesterday. I had to raise the ISO to 800 on this, as the Jay was too fidgety for a slower shutter speed. Unfortunately, ISO 800 means a lack of detail compared with ISO 400 (that I'm happy with). It's a price you pay for using a small sensor (and pocketable) camera, but mostly it's a...
My Internet is all over the place this morning; it's taken me nearly an hour to upload this picture. It's every Webpage I try to visit, so not just the forum. It's too annoying ATM, but I'll hopefully be back before the afternoon.
Through the window as usual.
I'm not sure about this one. I did some noise reduction on everything except the bird, and I'm not sure if it looks right. I don't usually bother reducing noise, as I don't mind a bit of graininess, but I thought I'd try it as I'm stuck at ISO 400 most of the time because of the light.
(If it...
Firstly, not as good as I'd like, as the poor light meant only 1/25th second shutter (and as always, hand-held), but I like the pose. As I said in my last upload; these are back, and taking nuts as fast as I can throw them out the door. I'd guess they're storing food for the Winter. If I could...
Last of last years pictures for a while, as I've got new pics of the Jays from this morning. They're still not used to the garden again yet, and there's only two visiting, but at least they're actually in the garden for long enough to get pictures.
Back to this picture; I don't think I've...
One more from last year, that I think looks better using different software (Photofiltre) to resize and sharpen for the web.
Through the window - hand-held - 1/80th second shutter.
Here's another from last year. I've got lots of recent pictures to upload, but I've also got lots of older ones. So I'm afraid it's a couple of older pics today, but my next upload will be recent|=)|
Through the window - hand-held - 1/60th second shutter.
Seeing as there's not as many browsing the gallery at the weekend, I thought I'd sneak in a picture from last year.|=)|
This is a different crop of one that I've already uploaded. I'm also using different software to resize and sharpen for the Web. Oh, and I even used a bit of noise reduction...
The Jays are showing up again, but not as often, and they're very wary. Hopefully, over the next few weeks they'll get a bit less wary, and I'll get some more pics.
This was from this morning; poor light in the trees, so only 1/40th second shutter. A bit grainy at ISO400 too, and through the...
I'm not sure what to upload as I'm expecting the male Sparrowhawk today. The female failed to kill yesterday, but I've not seen the male for at least two days. There's too many Sparrows (50+) posing out in the open for a Sparrowhawk to ignore.|=)|
I'll wait another hour or so, just in case...
I'm giving up on the Sparrowhawks for today, as the neighbours are in the garden; although they could go inside when it rains (they don't always, as they're lunatics|=)|)
Instead, here's a Jay from this morning. I'm not sure about the age of this bird; the streaking is fairly indistinct on the...
I've had enough of the dull and wet pics from yesterday, so decided a sunny through-the-window Jay was in order.|=)|
I've still not solved the Raptor mystery. There's been no Crows/Jays/Magpies in the garden for over a week now; not since everything got spooked. Also, every morning, between 6...
I thought that I'd upload a couple of Jay pics from this morning. I've found that I can't type much, or take many pictures, every day. I tried the Reservoirs yesterday, but only managed a few shots of a pair of Kestrels on a Pylon, before realising that I wasn't holding the camera steady...
