Still trying to get one of these right in the snow; this is about the best so far this morning. These are very nervous since the snow settled, they just swoop down and swoop off again. I think they feel a bit more vulnerable, as the garden looks very different with the snow.
Through a gap in...
I've just two days left to get things ready for the work to start on the Electrics, so I'm not sure if I'll be here much until after Christmas. I can't clear the loft out, as it's too much work for me (nothing to do with the Rodents running around in the loft |=)|)
I've been struggling a bit...
Another pic of one of the Jays on the fence yesterday. I'm running out of time to finish getting the house ready for the work to be carried out next week, so I'm not sure how often I'll be online. But I might put it off a bit longer.|=)|
Through the window, that I really must clean today...
I've been trying to catch one of these in the snow this morning, and finally got one; well, there's snow on the fence.|=)| You might be seeing a few of these, as it's brightening up a bit now.
Back to through the window (that I've not cleaned properly yet), as it's cold with the door open.
I'm having a rest from sorting the house out today, so I'll try and catch up with some of what I've missed later. I've still got to clear out 30 years of hoarding in the loft, and there's something running around up there of a night (I really hope it's just a Squirrel), so I'll be gone again...
After taking over 100,000 pictures with my camera (I've only had it a week |=)|) I thought I'd try a different setting.
I've already worked out what's best etc, but I've never really tested out the different IS settings. I found that mode 2 (Image Stabilised only when shutter released) gave me...
Yes, back to the Jays |=)|. This one was staring at me, and if it had a camera, would probably have taken my picture. I think it was studying the behaviour of the "Nut thrower".
Through the partially smudged window (Pigeons again).

Another from out in the garden yesterday, so not through the window.
For those that have read what I posted yesterday: I didn't get any pictures of the large female Sparrowhawk with the short tail, but I should eventually.|=)|
I've been in the garden with the camera again (I know, but I felt brave |=)|), and caught this Jay on the fence a few gardens away, just now. Not great light this morning, but I'm in the garden for a reason.
I've seen a rather large female Sparrowhawk with a very short tail, in, and flying...
I need to plumb-in a new washing machine, so just 2 quick uploads. Not sure how long I'll be, should take about 30 minutes to move the machine and connect the pipes. Trouble is, when you get past 50 it always takes longer than you thought.|=)|
This Jay (or one very much like it |=)|) heads...
Well obviously my Electric is back on, but there's more work to be done another day.
I went into the garden with the camera again (bl**dy cold |=)|), but the light wasn't as good as I thought. This Jay looks a bit odd in the strange light, and I think it's got a Tick by it's eye too. Oh, and...
One through the window from the other day.
I'm not sure when/if I'll be back online today, as we've work being done on the house electrics, so no power = no router = no internet.

Another from yesterday, when I risked the camera in the garden; which I won't do often, as the Pigeons land on me too much.|=)|
Just a reminder, this flew about 30m to a few gardens along. Distant for the garden, but quite close if the bird was in the "wild"

Well it was bright, and I felt brave, so I took a risk.|=)| Spent 10 minutes batting away the Pigeons with the lens hood, carefully mind; then had about 30 seconds when they left me alone. Eventually, I clapped my hands, which scared away all of the birds.|=)|
This Jay flew 30m away into the...
One through the window yesterday. One of the better places to catch them, but one of the worst for reflection. It's also the window where the Pigeons peer in waiting for food, so it doesn't stay clean for long.|=)|

I've had up to 8 Jays on this fence at the same time, but there's only a couple left by the time my camera focuses.|=)|
Through the window as usual.

Not sure about this image; it was taken through a grubby section of the window, so the detail isn't consistent. It's also heavily backlit. But, as usual, if it's a bit different I end up uploading it.|=)|
Almost forgot about Jay pics, as I've been preoccupied with the GSW. I still have at least 10 Jays in the garden each day, and it's still costing me a fortune to feed them.|=)|
BTW, the amount of glossy brown/orange on the Tertials? is how I tell them apart. If you compare this bird to this...
For those that don't know; the difference between Jays and Magpies is; one is mainly black and white, the other isn't.|=)| They are both opportunistic predators, and will take what's available. In fact, Magpies are much more adept at catching Mice in my garden than the local Cats are.
