A species that has become quite uncommon in my garden. Evening grosbeaks used come frequently in in large numbers but for the last 20 years they have almost disappeared. This year they are back although in low numbers compared to the old days.
A couple Male Evening Grosbeaks jousting for position. It looks like a gentle nuzzling, but in reality it was a quick flurry of thrusts and snaps at each other with those formidable beaks.
HOLY CROW! Well, it's not a crow, but a really beautiful leucistic Evening Grosbeak. My wife spotted it this morning, and said in a loud stage whisper "BILL! Grab your camera and get over here and BE QUIET! DON'T SCARE IT!!" lol
Unfortunately it was only there for about a minute.
