Malaysian Pied Fantail

Relatively unusual black morph form of quite common 'pied' Fantail. Comprise approx. 4 percent of population in South Island, much rarer in the North Island. Endemic to New Zealand.

Apologies if it's out of focus or if I failed to use the correct exposure/lighting/filter etc. As regular viewers will already know, I am just a happy snapper who just enjoys pointing the camera and clicking. Should my obviously poor images offend please let me know and I will delete them. Next...

Watching one this morning, so I had to put one up!!!

Stayed still long enough for this photograph.

Haven't had much luck getting a good one in flight, but here is a not great one spreading its wings.

Not as scruffy as yesterdays Fantail, this one is an adult.

I am molting into adult plumage.

These little birds are nearly always flitting around and generally hard to photograph.

Not an easy bird to photograph, they are always on the move.

I know this is not a perfect photograph, but I had to show it because of the fly in its claw. It took off, so I could not see how it ate it.

This is one of the most super active birds that I have seen :) I was very lucky to catch this bird on lens as it was taking a breather. Kindly spare the photo quality due to low light

These fantails at this time of the year chase their food on the ground.
