Finally was able to capture this lightening quick mover. Holy cow do they move fast! Balancing ISO and shutter speed to keep image noise at a minimum is sometimes a tricky game... especially when the subject darts around a lot.

If you see the bit of yellow/orange at the base of its bill, no, not a juvie. The Downys have apparently taken to the sweet potatoes I put in one of the suet cages ;)

It wasn't me she was giving that look to. She is one feisty little lady. That look was directed at a Red-bellied Woodie perched on a nearby tree

Not from any BOPs though. This one has it in for the male Downys.

Judging from the amount of suet that has been carried away the last few days, I have a feeling I'll be seeing some juvies in the not too distant future

I like the way this little female Downy braces with her tail, to get at the seeds.

We've had some record lows here the last week and predicted as well for the upcoming weekend. Fluffiness seems to be the look this week.

So much territorial spats going on here between all the woodies. A Red-bellied had just arrived on the opposite side of the trunk when I was focused on the Downy.

This and the Hairy picture make an interesting comparison... They were taken 7 minutes apart, too...

The sun came out for about a half-hour yesterday and the downy was obliging.

I'm thinking of doing a series of all the woodies that use this feeder. Jusssssst kidding. ;)
