Finally was able to capture this lightening quick mover. Holy cow do they move fast! Balancing ISO and shutter speed to keep image noise at a minimum is sometimes a tricky game... especially when the subject darts around a lot.
If you see the bit of yellow/orange at the base of its bill, no, not a juvie. The Downys have apparently taken to the sweet potatoes I put in one of the suet cages ;)
Judging from the amount of suet that has been carried away the last few days, I have a feeling I'll be seeing some juvies in the not too distant future
So much territorial spats going on here between all the woodies. A Red-bellied had just arrived on the opposite side of the trunk when I was focused on the Downy.
