    Field Sparrow

The combination of complete white eyering, reddish crown, and pink bill help distinguish this species. Although still reasonably common throughout New Jersey at all seasons, this species has declined throughout most of its range in recent years. Breeding bird surveys found a decrease of 3.2%...

    Field Sparrow

We frequently heard these sparrows singing, but found them to be shy and generally unapproachable. This individual appears to be carrying nesting material. They breed in scattered populations around Texas with their westernmost outpost here in the Edward's Plateau region. Two races are...

  13. LIFER- Field Sparrow

    LIFER- Field Sparrow

A possible lifer anyway. I may have seen this bird in the past but may have taken it as a Chipping Sparrow. I thought that's what it was for a moment but then realized I didn't recognize this bird. Did some research and posted it on ID forum and consenus seems to be field sparrow. I'll take it...

  16. Field Sparrow Pair

    Field Sparrow Pair

When I hear their call I am assured it is spring. I was lucky to see these two together in a scrubby field.
  17. Field Sparrow

    Field Sparrow

The pink bill is a good field mark of this sparrows ID.
  18. Field Sparrow

    Field Sparrow

Field Sparrow (Spizella pusilla subsp. arenacea) This Field Sparrow was traveling with a flock of Savannah Sparrows. Open manicured area with Post Oaks (Quercus stellata) at ca. 101 m (330 ft) elevation. Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, USA.
  19. Field Sparrow

    Field Sparrow

The bird is a skulker of over grown fields and can be mistaken for a Chipping or Tree Sparrow if only seen at a fast glance. The eye ring and pink bill are the best field marks.
  20. Field Sparrow

    Field Sparrow

This is a rare bird for Nova Scotia, but this one (presumably the same one) has turned up at a backyard feeder away from any of the usual rarity hotspots for 2 years in a row.
  21. Another Field Sparrow

    Another Field Sparrow

Well, this is actually my first capture. The last one I showed was taken a few days later in a different location. I had missed this one some how. Notice that long tail coming just behind the leaf.
  22. Field Sparrow

    Field Sparrow

This is my first image of this species and I think only the second time I had ID'ed one, but I don't think the bird is uncommon. A lot of birds I just don't come across.
  23. Field Sparrow

    Field Sparrow

Plain as vanilla, this little sparrow is not found in cultivated fields, but overgrown pasture, brushy woodland edges, and is very easily missed as it stays low and out of view.
  24. Shy Field Sparrow

    Shy Field Sparrow

This one kept singing for an hour from the same tree. Had to try to find it and capture a picture. Would not come out into the light.
  25. Field Sparrow

    Field Sparrow

Got this photo of a Field Sparrow that came to my backyard a couple of days after recent snowstorm. I had never seen one before then. Was a lifer for me.
