    Flame-crested Tanager (Tachyphonus cristatus subsp. fallax) Male, species sexually dimorphic. Ca. 1 km south of Wawa Sumaco, Napo Province, Ecuador. Semi-deciduous foothill forest at ca. 800 m (2,625 ft) elevation.

    Flame-crested Tanager

    The male is mostly black with a broad, flat yellow and orange crest. You can usually see some white at the shoulder and this shows as white under-wings in flight. The rump is buff as is the throat.
