The Case of the Robins and a New Pool

Hi all, I’m Nicole from just outside of Toronto, Canada. Spring has sprung here and with it has come the rerun of all the birds. It also comes with the excitement that we are getting a pool in a few weeks. I have three kids, 8, 9, 12. As we prepare for the construction of the pool the little...

    And here's some more

The Starling nests emptied and they descend on my garden in their droves! Here's two of them waiting hungrily for an adult to come with some food. You may be able to judge just how steep that slope is that they're on. My new pole feeder is just to the right of them. TTTW

    Little one

Still in the swampy area I noticed some movement in the surrounding bushes and reeds, managing to get a few images. Had to get this wee mite identified in the ID forum. A fledgling Brown Honeyeater. Quite pleased with that!
  12. This is what you want

    This is what you want

So now go and get your own! Looks like mum is showing the bairn what it is that he needs to find, doesn't it. I think that's one of the pink nibble thingy's, it doesn't look like a grape. The young Blue Tits had fledged and there seems to be still a few around, as I had 4 at the window feeder...

    Starling Fledglings

First youngster showed up yesterday... five days earlier than last year. Not great light, but showing what they do as soon as they arrive: head for the bird baths or a muddy puddle. Which means I'm on Cat-watch until the fledglings are able to fly when wet (There was nine hiding huddled-up...

Not a good picture, sorry. I've lightened it the best I could. It was not a very nice day, the light was awful and he was in a dark place anyway..... but it was my first fledging of the season, so I had to record it. TTTW
