    Herring Gull Dinner

Herring Gull steals Guillemot egg for dinner at RSPB Fowlsheugh
  2. Something Caught their Eye?

    Something Caught their Eye?

Most Auks I think are a bit Chaplinesque, comical little characters.
  3. You're Having a Laugh!

    You're Having a Laugh!

Well, maybe they were laughing about something, who knows?
  4. Fulmar

    Fulmar

AAP One of the joys of visiting the coast in summer is to watch these superb fliers hanging in the wind. This was taken some years ago now and I just had to wait for a bird to come close enough for my little camera. I was rather pleased at the way it turned out.
  5. Who are you?

    Who are you?

AAP Couldn't resist showing you this one - I just love their expressions. Digiscoped
  6. So I tried again

    So I tried again

AAP I did keep trying to get flight pictures of these adorable Kittiwakes. I was actually quite pleased with this one.
  7. Oh well, I did try

    Oh well, I did try

AAP I was ages trying to get some flight shots of the various birds at Fowlsheugh, it's really not easy trying to catch them with little cameras. However it was fun LOL Now I'm the one who was completey, utterly and hopelessly wrong about what was with the Herring Gull... I much prefer...
  8. Is there room for me?

    Is there room for me?

AAP There's loads of Guillemots nesting on the cliff face at Fowlsheugh, every spare ledge seems to be filled. Digiscoped
  9. Bed fellows

    Bed fellows

AAP This picture was taken at Fowlsheugh near Stonehaven. The cliffs are just full of sea birds in the summer months. Digiscoped
  10. Rock Dove

    Rock Dove

AAP Well, I suppose the purists might say it's a Feral Pigeon, but I'm counting it as a Rock Dove;) Towards the top of of this reserve is a cleft in the cliffs with a sloping bit of grass and at the back is a cave where you often find the Puffins, none this day apparently as I've got no...
  11. King of the castle

    King of the castle

AAP I just love that face. Another oldie from the Fowlsheugh trip.
  12. What's up there?

    What's up there?

AAP Thought I'd let you see some of the Razorbills at Fowlsheugh too. A few people have asked why I've waited so long to upload these pictures. Well, I wasn't a BF member at the time and forgot about them by the time I joined.
  13. Cliffhangers

    Cliffhangers

Thanks for the title idea Ove. AAP Might be the last one you see for a bit - no promises though;) Do you see I got a bird in flight too?!!
  14. Careful or you'll knock me off

Careful or you'll knock me off

AAP I just love these birds, with their gentle faces. Hope you don't mind another picture. Digiscoped
  15. Clinging on

    Clinging on

AAP When you get out the car at Fowlsheugh, you're deafened by the calls of Kittiwakes, they nest in large numbers here. I took loads of pictures of them and may show you some yet more scary view later, but I really liked this one... digiscoped. They're really my favourite gull.
  16. Have they gone?

    Have they gone?

AAP I thought this was a cheeky view of these Guillemots. Hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I do.
  17. Companionship

    Companionship

AAP Moving along the cliff top a bit I rather liked the way this Razorbil and Guillemot. were sitting together. It actually rather reminds me of a memorial on the ccoast somewhere, depicting families watching for the fishing boats to return home - but they would never come. Wish I could...
  18. Hmmm.... that's a long drop!

    Hmmm.... that's a long drop!

AAP Another picture from the Fowlsheugh trip. I can't quite remember how high the cliffs are there, but must be a couple of hundred feet. The birds just don't seem to be concerned at you walking just above their heads.
  19. Fulmar

    Fulmar

AAP South of Aberdeen is a seabird city - loads of Fulmars and auks nesting on any suitable ledge, even some Puffins if you're lucky enough to find them. Angles of view can sometimes be a bit difficult, this one was digiscoped across a deep cleft in the cliffs. There you go Chris... another...
  20. Fulmar for Chris

    Fulmar for Chris

Chris didn't believe I had a Fulmar picture - so just to prove him wrong;) This was taken years ago at Fowlsheugh RSPB Reserve on the east coast of Scotland, which holds all the usual cliff nesting birds in the summer, including Puffins. It's a great place to go, but I've not been for a while...
  21. Puffin at Fowlsheugh

    Puffin at Fowlsheugh

Another Puffin, for those who can't get enough of them;) This was taken at the RSPB reserve of Fowlsheugh on the North East coast of Scotland, south of Aberdeen. There's just a few of them there as a rule and you're rather lucky to see them, the most I've counted is 6. It's a few years since I...
  22. Lover's Tiff

    Lover's Tiff

It looks like these two Jackdaws have fallen out with each other!
