Andean Fox (Lycalopex culpaeus: Canidae) Also known as Culpeo. We saw two, this one was on Manu Road in front of Cock of the Rock Lodge. Apparently this fox gets food from the lodge and is use to people. The other one was a few miles up Manu Road but was very skittish.
This fox had a confrontation with the eagle the previous evening, and has returned for some real action this time. It charged the eagle many times, but it never really stood much of a chance.
As a couple of foxes come to feed after the eagle left, the fight could have been about territory?
A highly adaptable species, found across Britain, but absent from Scottish Islands (except Skye), in all habitats from salt marshes and sand dunes to the tops of mountains. In Britain, more so than elsewhere in Europe, foxes have also adapted to life in urban surroundings...
The image was taken during the night time. This is a juvenile young female as you can just start to see the colour comming out on the chest area. The photo was taken near Hay in central New South Wales.
