  3. VTOL Galah

    VTOL Galah

This Galah seemed to be practising vertical take-offs and landings in the steady wind that was blowing. Taken at the Pinnacles Park (near Perth, WA) close to dusk, hence the warm lighting.

    Galah

One of the most beautiful colored bird. Flying Galahs allways reminds me flying falcons, they look really similar to me except the color :)

Mother Galah 'talking' to her young at the 'door'. This is 100% crop from the original image. The hollow was quite high in the tree trunk (4-5m) and no birds were disturbed.

    'Pinky!.....

Just thought that I could bring a little bit of colour to your day! I was going down my driveway to go out to work when about 50 Galahs dropped by to dig up the onion grass in my front lawn, after I had so neatly mowed it last weekend! Just had to stop and take some pics! I liked the colours in...

    'Landing............

At 7pm most evenings I'm treated to about 30 Galahs trying to get a perch on the Xmas trees near the house! Really don't know which way to look but thought that this one wasn't too bad as it was trying to sit on the highest shoot but had great difficulty! Eventually it steadied itself and then...

    Brahms' Lullaby Playing Softly...

Galah. Not the clearest of photos, but.. I had just scored one of the prime hot day car parks in Victor Harbor - under the big fig tree. I looked up into the tree, just in case there was a bird there, to see this oblivious pair, whiling away the hottest part of the day. Humans who didn't...
  21. Groomin'

    Groomin'

A very busy individual, early morning and taken from my kitchen window. A busy morning feeding on seeding grasses in my lawn, a quick groom and off for the day. I liked the colours in this shot.

  23. Aaaaarghhh!!! Get off that!!!

    Aaaaarghhh!!! Get off that!!!

Galah. Galahs love the fascinating possibilities offered by this 'tree'. They work hard at trying to chew through the protective coverings - it's horrifying to watch, especially the lively juveniles. One will sit on each wire, and they try to reach across to each other, which of course would...
  24. Sunset Galahs

    Sunset Galahs

Galah. A group of Galahs looking picturesque as they rest in a dead tree on their way home to their roost for the night.
  25. 'Balancing act!'.....

    'Balancing act!'.....

I was over filling up 'Becky's' water trough after we had had a hot spell and as soon as it was full all the birds around came in to get a drink and there were a few Galahs but this one took the cake! It was trying to balance on the wire whilst its partner was trying to as well and it kept...
