I have gone back to July for this shot. Trev kindly dedicated a ladybug to me and commented I had not posted in a while. It is ages since I went out with my camera. This camera is one I bought from a friend, and I sent Rose a p.m. as she has a Panasonic and I am always impressed with her postings...
Wasn't sure about posting this as its as much about the scenery as it is about the birds. Photo doesn't really do justice to just how many Gannets were in the sky but thought I'd share it anyway
Taken on a trip to St. Kilda with Sea Harris - www.seaharris.co.uk
St Kilda has the worlds largest colony of Gannets and is truly spectacular once in a lifetime place to visit
Very nice to see some of these birds close up at last, even if from a boat, i didn't manage to get to Bempton Cliffs this year, maybe next to get some more steadier shots :) Mike
I enjoyed a day at Bempton with Adalia(Cora) and Sandpiper (Mike) to celebrate Cora's birthday, it was a perfect day, the light was just right and the wind enabled the birds to float on the thermals making it good for flight shots.
I have raised two children so know the pain and the pleasure but in comfort not halfway down a cliff in a howling gale.
My thanks go to two people who made this birthday treat possible again this year(last year Gigrin)
Thanks Mike and Carol.
