Very unusual to see one of these by a inland pond on my patch, I guess it had been blown off course and was recuperating. It had gone a few days later.
Closer crop to show the detail of the markings on this bird. Quite a difference to the adult bird in terms of looks and appeal, but it's still striking in its own right.
