This bird has been hanging around Pitsea for over a month but is not often visible. This is my first success in getting it in sunshine

The newly flooded vegetation was a good place to host this flock of Glossy Ibises. The passing boat did not disturb them so I could take several photos.

High water level and warm weather stimulated the growth of new vegetation on chanel bank. Glossy Ibis were so atracted by this area that they payed nearly no attention to my boat. It was a good chance to take some photos

From far they look as some, more or less, usual black birds. First it is the curved beak that will atract your attention. But when looking closer there are the colorful reflections of the plumage that impress you.

Due to some unpleasent health problems I was not able to load photos to the galery in the last month. Despite the above mentioned problems I am happy that I was able to do my spring trip to Danube Delta and to spend one week in this beautiful world. Please see some of the photos I did two weeks ago.

Despite the fact that several cameras were pointed towards him this Glossy Ibis stood, preened and streched as he was the only inhabitant of the whole Danube Delta. Not even the noise of the motor boat, we were with, disturbed him. The whole photo sesion took about twenty minutes in which the...

The Glossy Ibis is one of my favorite birds from Danube Delta. It is a rather shy bird and you need light from a certain angle to see the beauty of it's plumage. For a glance I had the light and I tryed to capture the image.

I saw the birds in open field but could not get close enough to take a decent photo. One of the birds flew over a dam. Protected by the dam I got closer to the bird. When the bird saw me she flew imediatly. This is the best photo I was able to do.
