Every time I see these photos I crack up. Of course the goldfinch was just scanning around for threats as small birds will. He's just looking over his shoulder and then looks up. But to me it looks like this finch ate some fermented seeds and this is the moment when they hit and things go...
This is a rather smaller than usual and delicate looking goldfinch that I have started calling Whitetip, because of the white feathers at the end of it's tail. I'm not sure if this is a usual colouration for these things. I'm pretty sure this is the only one around here like this. It's very cute...
This American Gold Finch was on full alert as a small Accipater flew over the area ..off to the safety of the Pines he flew and never reappeared.
Liked his unusual stance and appearance ..second later he was gone...
