Just to explain the tree species in this picture.....the conifer is an offspring from a few trees in house across the road from the entrance to this little wood. The Goldcrests seem to love the tree and I think they'll be setting up home in it pretty soon, judging by the way they were in and out...
I followed this Goldcrest through the woods at Strumpshaw Fen for about 15 minutes as it fed amongst the brambles. Eventually it popped up just long enough for a single reasonably unobscured shot. Nice to see its smart yellow socks. Ron
