I found this young golden-crowned sparrow hopping practically in front of me this morning as I leaned against an oak looking at two adult golden-crowned. Hmmm.
Our wintering Golden-crowned sparrows are molting into their spring plumage and will head northward soon. This bird will look less scruffy in a few days, I'll bet.
