The last three bird pictures from before the Orkney trip. This bird is one of a small group living in the wild parts of Slimbridge. It may not come under everyone's definition of wild.

A few odds and ends left. Three of my favourite birds today.

Here's a mixed bunch from last month's visit to Slimbridge. Starting with quite a rare sight, a Goldeneye out of water.

To be honest I get even more like this one.

... but I get a lot more like this.

This is the kind of pose I try to get.

Many birds come in really close at the Peng Observatory at Slimbridge. I took lots of pictures of this bird as it swam around.

Quite different to the male, she doesn't even have a golden eye.

I think this is a female Goldeneye, and it was taken last year on a lake somewhere in London.

Well we had great sunshine and light today. Pitty because today was one of my wildfowl survey count days and photography has to take a back seat with my 6 mile walk of the River Irwell. My feet always get blistered on these count days. As stated before I have not been posting much because I did...

It's always nice to have a matching pair of birds to photograph.

It took off when I was photographing it so I kept going.
