We had a pair of Goldfinches on the feeders (occasionally 3) and it was such a joy to photograph them. They seem to have disappeared for now but I hope they come back.
The autumn killed the plants. The frost covered them with ice. The fog made things look ghostly. Everything looked lifeless. The Goldfinch brought life back.
Second of three Goldfinch images.
This bird now appears to be the most common and successful of my garden birds.
All other species appears to be diminishing but not this colourful and welcomed family.

Snow and sunshine today - perfect.
It's quiet on the feeders at the moment, just one Red Squirrel on the ground but a few minutes ago there was full-scale war between the Squirrel the Jays and the Magpies.
A flock of goldfinches was flying along the roadside. It was a bush of Spear Thistle (Cirsium vulgare) that made the birds stop for feeding. For me it was a good opportunity to take some photos.
The bushes of, what looked to me as Welted Thistle, were ofering a quick meal to the birds. Food was so tasteful that I was allowed to take several photos without disturbing the flock of goldfinches.
