I really never knew about this tortoise until I stumbled upon this one looking for scrub jays in the scrub. No scrub jay. I learned afterwords that this species is unique in building a burrow, which it was heading for when I took its picture.- tetoneon

I was out hiking today and found this Gopher Tortoise out for a walk also. He allowed me to take his picture for at least 15 minutes. Then his agent called and he ambled off. Oh well that's Hollywood!- Big-V316
