Very difficult to take macro shot of a grasshopper. They will always either fly away or turn around whenever I tried to get close to them.

Looking like armored samurai warriors, these amazingly colorful and quite large grasshoppers come out of the ground by the thousands in the western wetlands and Everglades regions. They're clumsy when they hop, and love to eat the scenery

this little cutie really stands out against the color of the flower. taken at 1/1250, F/3.5 at ISO 1600 at 9.8mm

Mischievous Bird Grasshopper (Schistocerca damnifica: Acrididae) 2.5-4.7 cm (1.0-1.9 in) long. Males are on the shorter end of the scale while females are on the longer end.

Taken at the Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve in Hillsboro, Oregon, USA at about 2m. Genus unknown.

Pallid-winged Grasshopper (Trimerotropis pallidpennis: Acrididae) 2.5-4.5 cm (1.0-1.8 in) long.

Thank you everyone for your very nice comments on my picture of a wheatear perched on a bench.On the same morning, about half an hour later I took a photo of this grasshopper.
